Happy Halloween-- it was 1970 something....

The costumes kids wear today are so different than what I remember wearing on Halloween... How many of you had those hard plastic masks with the elastic that looped around your head?  (The plastic always cut my lip and it was SO hot to wear.)  I saw this picture online and even though I don't know anyone in this pic.. it could have been my kindergarten class because this is about how we looked!  Hope you have a Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin card

This is one of my favorite fall cards ever!  I received it at a "Stampin' Up" card swap last fall.  I just can't bear to give it away -- but I wanted to show it off. It was made by Pam Brown.  She is an excellent stamper:)  Thanks again, Pam!

Saturday Scrounging with Hope

Hope and I made our usual trip to Timeless Antiques yesterday to see what we could scrounge up for a couple of bucks.  Here are some of our finds:

This country corn sign just had to come home with me for $2.00

Pumpkin Spice candle for .50 cents.  Smells wonderful

I also found a box containing  four straw wreaths, 1 styrophone wreath,  2 small vine wreaths, a 20 oz bag of polyster stuffing , several vines of ivy, 3 embroidery hoops, 2 packages  of red and blue lace, a package of moss, 2 small looms, one wooden tool that I have no idea what to do with,  several craft books and about ten iron on patterns including some Mary Elgelbriet patterns (which I LOVE!)  Anyhow, I asked if I could just purchase the wreaths and stuffing and she said it was an "all or nothing" box and to make her an offer.  So.. I said, "what about $5.00? "  and she said, "It's a deal".  So the box came home with me too.  Below is a picture of what I did with one of the looms that was in the box.. I have been looking for a way to store my thread and I think this will work great!

Overall, I thought it was a pretty successful day of scrounging.  I received  another nice surprise when my dad and stepmother came over to watch the game with us later.  Susan, my stepmother, had found me a bag of vintage thread (some on the wooden spools) when she went antiquing in Pine Mountain!  I was so glad to get them.  There are some wonderful colors in the mix!  Not to mention the cool spools.  Thanks, Susan!

Fall/Thanksgiving table

We are having special guests for Thanksgiving this year and I wanted to go a little "above and beyond" my usual table decorations.  I have been thinking and planning for awhile now.  I am going to attempt to make my own table runner and placemats from some awesome  fabric I found at Hobby Lobby.  I also wanted to share this beautiful table that was decorated by Judy Wyatt at our Birthday celebration a few years ago.  It's just beautiful and makes me want to sit down at the table and enjoy a Thanksgiving meal of turkey and dressing right now!

Sew Many Ways...: Thrifty Thursday...Placemat Sewing Caddy

I saw this nifty little "thrifty" sewing caddy on a blog that I follow and wanted to share it with you all.  I am constantly misplacing my scissors, needles and anything that I am working with while I sew and watch tv.   This is a great idea and I plan to sew me up one as soon as I can!  Thanks Karen!

Sew Many Ways...: Thrifty Thursday...Placemat Sewing Caddy: Hello everyone...it's Thrifty Thursday again. The day we try to use things we have around the house. I just recently started Thrifty Thursda...

Flea Market Finds...

My youngest daughter, Hope, and I usually make our rounds to the local Antique store (Timeless Antiques) on Saturdays.  We try to see what kind of deals we can find and we really get excited about our  $1.00 deal finds.  Here are a couple of our recent treasures for $1.00.  What are some of your great finds??? Share them with us:)
Box window sill with cat and mouse. It is about 20 inches tall so it is a nice size.  Great find for 1.00!  I love the cat and mouse along with  the vines and fall leaves on the back.

I love this little sneaky mouse:)
This cute little bike basket was perfect for holding my fat quarters and buttons:)
