Flower Arrangements from a casket spray

 

Remember this casket spray I made not long ago for my sister's mother in law?  Well, we wanted each of her children to have an arrangement with some of the flowers.  So, I took it apart and made four arrangements so they could each have one.  I hope they all like them.  The flowers are  beautiful -- just like their mother.

Fall Acorn Pillow (Sew easy)

Hello Friends!  I can't believe Fall is almost here.  I still have lots of summer projects to share with you!  I have been so busy lately.  I plan to get several projects uploaded and posted very soon.. so keep an eye out.  For today, I wanted to share this adorable little acorn pillow.  I found the FREE pattern here:  http://www.youcanmakethis.com/products/Free-Exclusive-Fall-Acorn-Flange-Pillow.

Using your talents for His purpose

 

I recently made a new crafting friend.  Her name is Vicki T.  Vicki is using her talents to make a difference in our community.  She sews these beautiful blankets for our local Save A Life Center.  She chooses mostly non-gender fabrics and sews them into a perfect size baby quilt.  She then sews a label into each quilt with Jeremiah 1:5  on it.  Her quilts are so beautiful and colorful.  (The one with ducks was my favorite!)    I asked her to share her story with us and this is what she wrote:

 

"I love to meet fellow crafters and quilters.  We always seem to get along really well with the common thread of working with beautiful materials.  These are my gift to God and women who chose to give life to the little life growing inside of them and to the people who work with these ladies with a heart for Christ.  It kept my sanity while being a caregiver along with my husband for my dementiaed  mother-in-law.  We moved down here in '05 to "help" her with the house not knowing what we were dealing with in the mental capacity.  It was a long journey and many evenings while she was watching the same TV programs over and over again, I would sew.  My husband and I would trade off who would sit with her that evening because we couldn't leave her alone nor did she like being left alone.  I enjoy this so much and I pray over each one as I make it for happy times for mom and baby.  One time when we finally had caregivers the last 9 months, my mother-in-law wanted to leave and go to bed before the show was over.  The care giver expressed dismay on the ending.  I believe I had seen it many times.  I was able to enlighten her to its ending. She passed on March, 2013

 

Sewing is my joy.  The blankets have evolved.  The one thing that I had to remember was the blankets did not have to be heavy because the winters here are never as cold as Nebraska where I used to live.  I still have not worn the my winter coat from there.   I want to learn how to use my embroidery machine and sew a cross on each one too.  I'll get there sooner or later.  "

Front Door Owl Wreath

Hello friends!  It has been awhile since I have posted anything.  I've been very busy with lots of projects that I can't wait to share with you.  I am having issues with my camera  and waiting to get it fixed before I can post pictures.  However, I made this little owl for my front door last night.  I saw so many similar to this at the fall festival I went to last fall.  Tracy painted our front door and it looked so good -- but-- it just had to have a new wreath.  So -- here it is.  (sorry for the cell phone quality photo!)  Hope you like it!  Thanks again for visiting me.

 

 

Flowers for a Lovely Lady

My brother- in- law and sister lost his precious mother last November.   She was a wonderful, Christian lady who had the most gorgeous blue eyes that would light up every time she smiled.     She was so positive and loving; despite being bed ridden for the last year of her life.   My brother in law called and asked if I would be willing to do her casket spray.  I was so honored to be able to do this for such a special lady.  Keep in mind -- I am not a professional florist by any stretch of the imagination and have only done one other casket arrangement (for my mother).   I talked with her daughter and found out  that blue was her favorite color.  When I  saw this blue color hydrangea at Hobby Lobby -- I knew it was the color we needed.  The colors reminded me of her.  Serene and peaceful.   She is definitely missed by everyone who knew her and she will never be forgotten.

Rocking chair Make-over

Hello friends.  I am so glad to be back and working on crafts again.  I wanted to share my recent project-- my back porch.  I am in the process of updating it.  The furniture and décor is very dated and needs changing.  After flippin' through  a zillion décor magazines and stalking pinterest...   I have decided to go "bold' with color.  I bought this rocking chair from a yard sale last year.  It has been sitting around just waiting on some attention.  Now, I know some of you will groan when you read this -- but I scraped off all that lovely, chippy, old paint and  I painted it a gorgeous shade of orange.  The color matches the fabric that I am re-upholstering the furniture with. ( I will share that project when I get finished.) Now -- I can't wait for a good rain shower so I can sit out there and enjoy my new chair!

Cruise to Cozumel

Hello bloggin' friends!  As most of you know, I have been taking a break from bloggin' and all my crafting.  I have missed it SO much.  But, I have been very busy.  My youngest daughter graduated from high school and we went on a cruise to celebrate.  It was a much needed vacation and we  had a blast.  As far as my carpal tunnel problem goes --  it is much better for the moment.  I received  a steroid shot in each hand and the pain is very minimal now.  However, if I get too excited and start trying to knit or type ... it comes back.  I am still having the surgery, but would like to put it off till after summer.  This week we are having  VBS.  (I will post photos from that soon.)  In the meantime -- I wanted to share some of our vacation photos.
