Handmade gift ideas.. Candy Dish from flower pots

A friend of mine (hey, Teena!) made some of these candy dishes and I thought they were adorable!   I decided to give it a try and make some of my own.  I could not find any terra cotta pots at our local WalMart and because I was not willing to drive 30 miles to the nearest Home Depot, Hobby Lobby  or Lowes -- I made do with the supplies I could find locally.  I bought these pots already glazed blue and found the fish bowl dish at Dollar Tree.  I got frustrated because I could not find a wooden knob  for the top saucer.  However, as I was browsing around WalMart, I did find a pack of 4 rubber chair boots and thought... hmmm., that will work!  I glued the glass dish to the bottom of the pot and the knob to the saucer. ( I used E6000 glue found in the craft department).  Next I wrapped a pretty ribbon around the knob and neck of the bowl, added some vinyl circles I cut with the cricut, added some felt around the inside of the saucer so it would not break the top of the bowl, added whoppers to the bowl --and it was done!  Easy and cute gift idea.  This one is a Christmas gift for my niece.



Tracy seemed to think I made this for him... he ate all the whoppers!



A Christmas cardinal box

  I found this cute little box with cardinals painted on the side at Hobby Lobby for 50 percent off!  Now, how could I turn that away? I brought it home, added lights and some greenery and of course... a cardinal in a nest.    It was just what I needed to go on the piano to help things look really 'Christmasy.'

Christmas tree Forest ( Made from wooden candlesticks.)

I bought this candelabra  from a local online yard sale for $3.00.  I have been  trying to figure out what I wanted to make  with it.  I finally made up my mind and this is what it turned out to be... A Christmas Tree Forrest!  My daughter, Hannah loves it and said it reminds her of something off of a Harry Potter movie!  Lol.

Here's how I did it:

First, I sanded it up to give it a more worn look.

I found some cones I  had stored  in my craft closet for quite awhile.

Covered the cones with sheet moss.  I used hot glue and have the blisters to prove it!

Decorated the trees with red glittered berries, wrapped it with star garland, sprayed a little fake snow and then covered the bottom with moss to look like the forest floor.... And it is done!

AND... We have a winner of the Block Head Santa!

Christmas Cardinal Lighted Arrangement

I just  love  cardinals.  They remind me of my mom.  She was a bird watcher and loved the red cardinal.  I saw the cutest  pattern  over at   http://www.oldroadprimitives.com/.  I just had to buy it (along with a couple of other cuties too.) It was easy to make and SO cute.  I picked me up some artificial pine, glued a few small pine cones to it, stuck it in a recycled yoohoo bottle with a sprig of battery operated stick lights ... and made myself an  instant decoration for my mantle in the dining room!

Hey guys!  Do you remember the tutorial I posted about the Light Bulb Snowman from Ginger Bowie, Ginger Snap Crafts?  Well.. I decided to give it a try and make my own.  She has a wonderful tutorial with pictures and great instructions.  Click on over to her site and see.  Now, we all know that we have blown lightbulbs that  need changing.  So -- get busy changing those light bulbs and recycle those old ones!  They would make cute gifts for your co-workers or Secret Santa gifts!
